Shane Warne expects Sri Lankan offspinner Muttiah Muralitharan to reach unthinkable heights in cricket. Australian star Warne has tipped Muralitharan to take 1000 test wickets - double what most critics thought possible barely a decade ago.
Warne, who plays his 100th test against South Africa in Cape Town tonight, baseshis theory on mathematics. "Say he takes 70 or 80 a year, and he plays at least another seven years, he's going to be pretty close to a thousand test wickets." Muralitharan has taken 404 wickets in 72 tests, 177 in 24 over the past two years.
