New Zealand A scored a comprehensive win over their Australian counterparts in a tri-series one-day cricket match in India yesterday.
The New Zealanders won the game in Hyderabad by 129 runs following influential performances by Peter Fulton, Mark Gillespie and Jeetan Patel.
Discarded by the national selectors forNew Zealand's upcoming tour of Bangladesh, Fulton topscored with 75 as his team compiled 235 for nine from their 50 overs in the opening match of the series.
That proved far too much for the Australians, who perished for just 106 in 26.1 overs after offspinner Patel cleaned up the tail to collect figures of four for 16.
That backed up the earlier good work of seamer Gillespie, who knocked the top off the innings to take three for 37, while Grant Elliott chimed in with his medium pacers to return two for 15.
Fulton's 75 was scored off 101 balls and contained 12 fours as he guided New Zealand A to a competitive total.
Other good contributions were made by opener Martin Guptill with 33, Neil Broom 31 and James Marshall 25.
New Zealand A will also play India A in the series before playing two first-class matches against India A.
