New Zealand medium-fast bowler Chris Drum is expected to join Adam Parore in retirement after the current third cricket test against England in Auckland.
Chairman of selectors Sir Richard Hadlee confirmed Drum's name would be missing when the one-day and test sides are named this morning to tour Sharjah and Pakistan
starting next week.
"Chris has advised us he's retiring and is unavailable for all tours," Hadlee said.
The retirement, understood to be a lifestyle decision, is also expected to include first-class cricket.
Drum, 27, is currently playing his fifth test after making a less than memorable debut against Pakistan a year ago.
Then, he was carried off Christchurch's Jade Stadium after dislocating his shoulder while fielding, having bowled just eight overs.
After four tests he had taken 12 wickets at an average of 32.08.
He also played five one-day internationals, the last of them against India in Delhi in late 1999.
Wicketkeeper Parore last week announced his retirement and is currently playing his 78th test.
