Boxing: Tyson licence in doubt

New Jersey Governor James E. McGreevey will refuse any request for a licence by the former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

The news comes a day after Tyson's camp announced that agreement had been reached in principle with New Jersey's sporting authorities for a fight on June 21 on the same card as World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis.

Tyson's difficulties getting a licence are not limited to New Jersey. His boxing licence was suspended in Nevada and he was fined US$3 million ($5.55 million) in July 1997 for twice biting Evander Holyfield's ears during a bout in June of that year.
