The NBA yesterday suspended four basketball players, one day after one of the worst brawls in North American professional sports history.
Calling the incident in the final minute of the game between the Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons "shocking, repulsive and inexcusable," NBA commissioner David Stern suspended Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson of Indiana, and Detroit's Ben Wallace indefinitely. The Indiana trio all threw punches at fans in the melee.
