Wayne Brown was today named assistant coach for the New Zealand Breakers for the remainder of the 2003/2004 Australian National Basketball League (ANBL) season.
Brown, 30, has coached the Manawatu Jets in the New Zealand Basketball League (NBL) for the past two seasons.
Breakers head coach Frank Arsego said he was delightedto be working with Brown, who took Manawatu to the NBL semifinals in 2002 and 2003.
"Wayne's work ethic is tremendous and he compliments my thoughts on where the Breakers should be going," Arsego said.
Brown, who was born in Hobart, was a junior state representative with Tasmania and a promising point guard as a development player with former ANBL side Hobart Devils before a serious ankle ligament injury prematurely ended his playing career.
