Australian Rules: Carey calls it quits after long career

Australian Rules star Wayne Carey confirmed yesterday that he would retire from the game immediately because of a neck injury.

Carey is one of the greatest players in the sport's history, kicking 727 goals in 272 games with the Kangaroos and the Crows.

But he was also responsible for one of the biggest scandals in AFL history. He left the Kangaroos in disgrace two years ago after his extra-marital affair with the wife of then team-mate Anthony Stevens.
