Athletics: Triathletes on podium

New Zealand triathletes Shane Reed and Fiona Docherty gained podium finishes in the St Croix international half-ironman in the Bahamas yesterday.

Reed and Docherty finished second and third respectively in the annual event in the US Virgin Islands.

Australia's Craig Alexander outsprinted Reed to win by 10s after the 21km run.

Defending champion Sue Bartholomew won her third successive women's title, beating fellow American Joanna Zieger by four minutes.
