Athletics: Saidi-Sief vows to fight

Ali Saidi-Sief, the world and Olympic silver medallist in the 5000m, has vowed to clear his name after testing positive for the banned anabolic steroid nandrolone during the world athletics championship.

A spokesman for the International Association of Athletics Federations said the Algerian athlete had tested positive on the day of the 5000m final in Edmonton in which he finished second to Richard Limo, of Kenya.

Saidi-Sief faces a two-year suspension and will be stripped of the medal he won at the world championships if a second sample returns a positive test.
