Athletics: Faumuina seventh in Monaco

MONACO - Beatrice Faumuina was again short of her best as she finished seventh in the discus at the world athletics finals in Monaco today.

New Zealand's 1997 world champion recorded a best throw of 61.81m to finish 3.61m behind winner Vera Pospisilova of the Czech Republic.

A small consolation for Faumuina, whose best effort was just 56.86m at last month's world championships, was finishing 0.85m ahead of Irina Yatchenko of Belarus who won the world title in Paris.

American Aretha Hill was second today with 65.10m while Ekaterini Voggoli of Greece was third in 63.55m.
