Morrie McHugh, an All Black forward in 1946 and 1949, has died in Auckland, aged 93.
A stalwart of Auckland's Marist club, the Sacred Heart College old boy played 15 games in the black jersey, including tests against Australia (2) and South Africa (1).
He was a national amateur heavyweight boxing champion in 1938. McHugh was the oldest surviving All Black. That distinction now passes to 90-year old Sir Fred Allen, McHugh's captain on the 1949 tour of South Africa.
