Situation:
A ridge of high pressure moves east over the country today, with northerly flow developing over the lower South Island after it has passed. Tomorrow, a strong front embedded in the northerly flow moves east over the lower half of the South Island. On Thursday, a front over the South Island moves northeast over central New Zealand, followed by a low pressure system to the northwest of the South Island. On Friday the front moves east across the North Island while the low deepens and moves onto central New Zealand. On Saturday a southwesterly flow develops over the country as the low moves away to the east.
