Northland police are investigating two separate allegations of rape in the early hours of New Year's Day.
Whangarei police Sergeant Murray Stapp said a woman in her 30s was allegedly accosted by a fellow camper at the Department of Conservation-run campground at Uretiti, 30km south of Whangarei, forced into histent and raped.
Another woman alleged she was raped by a man who befriended her and took her to a nearby bach at Pataua North, where he attacked her.
Meanwhile, Kaikohe police have charged a Kawakawa man, 45, with two counts of sexual violation, three charges of male assaults female, one of threatening to kill, and one of abduction.
Sergeant Justin Rogers said the charges related to incidents on Saturday night between Kawakawa and Kaikohe, following complaints made by three different people.
Police would not divulge further details. The man had appeared in Kaikohe District Court yesterday and was remanded in custody.
