Police are looking for two men who rescued a woman who was was punched four times and thrown onto the grass verge, as she rode her bike along Dunedin's waterfront yesterday.
Police said the 45-year-old woman was on her bike at 3.30pm on Portsmouth Drive, near the intersection of Strathallan, when she was accosted by the unknown man who shouted at her before grabbing her bike and punching her about four times in the right side of her body.
He then threw her, still on her bike, on to the berm.
The woman's screams were heard by two Caucasian men in their mid 20s, who were in a nearby parked car.
They ran to help the woman and her attacker fled in the direction of the wharf.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his 40's.
He is of solid build, with sandy blonde, shoulder length, unkempt hair, and was clean shaven.
He was wearing a light coloured t-shirt, with a large logo or picture on the front and light blue jeans
This is the second attack on a woman in Dunedin in a week.
On Monday, a 23-year-old jogger was knocked to the ground, tied up and sexually assaulted about 9.15pm in a Dunedin park.
