Pukaha Mt Bruce is calling for volunteers as the centre finds itself attracting more visitors.
The centre is undertaking a new initiative to recruit and train volunteer hosts to help look after the thousands of people visiting the centre each year.
The role involves meeting and greeting visitors to the centre, informing them about available tours, which areas they can visit, feeding times throughout the day, as well as answering questions and helping visitors to find their way around the centre.
Volunteer co-ordinator Catherine Rossiter-Stead said although the centre was also keen to hear from people interested in helping with the centre's forest restoration project, the new role for volunteer hosts showed the emphasis the centre was placing on looking after visitors and ensuring anyone spending time at the centre had a great experience.
"This will help to spread the word and encourage people to visit us again, which ultimately helps to fund the centre and keep the Pukaha forest the way it should be," she said.
