Wairarapa United have no injury worries going into their Chatham Cup fourth round soccer match with Palmerston North End at Palmerston North on Sunday.
Concerns over leg injuries to strikers Pita Rabo and Andy Robertson have dissipated and manager Phil Keinzley said a full strength side would be taking the field
for what is now being treated as the high point of the Wairarapa United season.
No Wairarapa team has ever ventured past the second round of the Cup competition and victory this weekend will see Wairarapa United through to the last 16.
Their two wins to date, 1-0 over Stop Out and 2-0 over Wellington United, have come against higher graded central league sides but the fact Palmerston North End plays at a club level similar to that of Wairarapa United doesn't mean the standard of opposition will be any less.
"I guess it looks an easier game on paper but we don't expect that to be the case," Keinzley said. "They (North End) have the record to show they are a very useful side and we need to respect them, that's for sure."
In their two Chatham Cup games to date Palmerston North End have beaten Woodleigh 3-0 and New Plymouth Rangers 2-0 and they are the only Manawatu-based side left in the competition.
Their club form has been impressive too. They contest the central region western premiership and with 22pts from seven wins and a draw in nine matches they share the lead with Red Sox and have a game in hand.
Keinzley admits that Wairarapa United management have little knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of Palmerston North End but they are reputed to be a young side with good all-round strengths, something borne out by their western premiership games where they have scored 24 goals whilst conceding just four.
The Wairarapa United game plan will be similar to that successfully utilised against Stop Out and Wellington United with the emphasis being on imposing themselves on their opposition right from the word go.
"Composure and structure are important but flair is undoubtedly one of our strengths and we have to take advantage of that too," Keinzley said.
"If we get the right mix we will be very competitive, no question of that."
A likely Wairarapa United line-up is: Tony Jamieson, Carl Shailer, Petero Dauniseka, James Oxtoby, Sakeo Valevou, Aaron Spierling, Merick Tvaroh, Guiseppe Cugliari, Niki Keinzley, Andy Robertson, Pita Rabo. Subs: Anton Ross, Lai Gataurua, Chris Looye.
The full draw for this weekend's Chatham Cup games is (home teams first): Caversham v Northern, Hamilton Wanderers v Three Kings United, Marist Wellington v Western Suburbs, Metro v Takapuna, Napier City Rovers v Gisborne City, North Shore United v Albany United, Papakura City v Glenfield Rovers, Roslyn Wakari v Dunedin Technical, Central United v Mt Albert Grammar, Manuwera v Mangere United, Melville United v Eastern Suburbs, Miramar Rangers v Wellington Olympic, Nomads United v Nelson Suburbs, Palmerston North End v Wairarapa United, Papatoetoe v East Coast Bays, Woolston Technical v Western.
