Waikato DHB bans gang regalia in hospitals

The Waikato District Health Board has banned gang regalia, patches or colours from all of its hospitals.

Security manager Dean Ria says over the past three weeks, security staff have asked 25 people to remove gang regalia and all did so willingly.

Mr Ria says there are times when both Black Power and Mongrel Mob members have been visiting fellow gang members at Waikato Hospital, and implementing the ban allows nursing staff to do their jobs without intimidation.
