Keelan Breeze McCann named as victim of Burnham SH1 fatal crash

A man who died after a two-vehicle crash south of Christchurch last week has been named.

He was Keelan Breeze McCann, 30.

Emergency services were called to the crash on State Highway 1 near Burnham shortly before 7.30am on Tuesday, April 14.

McCann was found dead, while another person was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they remain in a now stable condition.

“Police would like to thank the members of the public who stopped and rendered assistance to those involved in the crash. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time,” police said.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand said three crews worked to free two people trapped in separate vehicles.

Hato Hone St John sent two ambulances, two operations managers, a rapid response vehicle and a helicopter.

SH1 was closed for close to four hours.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
