Police have cordoned off an area between the port of Napier Brass Band Hall and Napier YMCA after receiving multiple calls about a mobility scooter and later a body in the drain, about 10am today.
Investigations continued in the area bordered by Latham St and Riverbend Rd.
A police spokesmansaid the death was being treated as "unexplained" at this stage.
