Children in colourful clothes are set to visit Wairarapa next month bringing songs and tales from faraway lands.
The Watoto children's choir, composed of 18 boys and girls from Watoto, Uganda, is touring the country giving free concerts in partnership with aid agency Tear Fund.
The troupe will sing in Masterton on Tuesday, September 22, at St Matthew's Church in Masterton, at 7pm.
St Matthew's youth pastor Fern Hamilton said the choir are "awesome".
"They have people dancing and singing and joining in," Miss Hamilton said.
"They have a really touching story."
A tour booklet describes the concert as "an evening of celebration, dance and singing".
"Come and hear the remarkable story of how Watoto ministries are impacting the lives of parentless and war-affected children.
"If you have ever doubted the change sponsorship or giving makes, you have to come to a Watoto concert."
"The children, dressed in traditional African outfits, tell how supporters have wonderfully changed their lives."
In conjunction with Break Free expeditions St Matthews parish is also putting together a team of people to travel to Watoto, Uganda in the summer of 2010-2011 to help build homes and classrooms for orphaned children.
