Power lines are down in Devonport after a truck crashed into a power pole.

A Fire and Emergency spokesman said lines were down across the road after an incident on the corner of Lake Rd and Allenby Ave.

"That will cause chaos in Devonport," he said.

A Police spokeswoman said they were called to the scene at 3.50pm after a truck drove into a power pole.

Lake Rd is now closed between Mozeley Ave and Owens Rd.

An Auckland Transport spokesman said congestion is heavy on Lake Rd and motorists are advised to avoid the area if they can.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said no one was injured in the crash.
