Christopher Sweetman's ability to remember numbers has seen him named as the New Zealand's top male Maori student.
The 18-year-old says he struggles to write an English essay but has no trouble finding the answer to a maths or scientific problem, because he remembers what he learns.
That talent has been reflected is his marks. The Devonport student received 90 per cent in physics, maths with statistics and economics and 86 per cent in chemistry and maths with calculus.
Mr Sweetman attributes his success with his studies to the ongoing encouragement he receives from his family and his own desire to achieve.
