Nai Yin Xue, wanted for allegedly murdering his wife and abandoning his daughter, arrived back in New Zealand this morning.

Xue, 53, is suspected of murdering his wife, Anan Liu, in Auckland last September and stuffing her body in the boot of a car.

He took his daughter, Qian Xun Xue, aged three, to Australia and abandoned her at the Southern Cross railway station in Melbourne, before fleeing to the US.

He was captured in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 29.

Sept 13: Nai Yin Xue takes his daughter Qian Xun (Pumpkin) to Melbourne.

Sept 15: Xue abandons Qian Xun at Melbourne's Southern Cross Station.


Sept 15: Xue flees to America and goes into hiding in Los Angeles.


Sept 17: Police visit Xue family home at Keystone Ave, Mt Roskill, Auckland. Xue family car parked outside.

Sept 18: Car removed for forensic study.

Sept 19: Body of Anan Liu found in boot.

Sept 20: Police criticised for taking two days to find body.

Sept 20: Police confirm body is that of Anan Liu and say she died a violent death.

Sept 20: Arrest warrant issued for Xue for murder and American police asked for help to hunt him down.

Sept 24: US authorities go public in America in their bid for information in the hunt for Xue.

Sept 25: Qian Xun returns from Melbourne to be reunited with her maternal grandmother Liu Xiao Ping who has arrived in New Zealand from China.

Sept 26: Little Pumpkin Trust launched.

Oct 4: Family Court in Auckland allows Qian Xun to go back to China with her grandmother.


Oct 5: US Marshals offer US$10,000 reward ($13,500) for information leading to capture of Xue.

Feb 8: US Marshals' office says time running out as they work on leads in their hunt for Xue.

Feb 23: Confirmed sightings in Texas.

Feb 29: Xue captured in Georgia.

March 8: NZ police speak to Xue in US

March 9: Police advise Xue will arrive in Auckland on Monday

March 10: Nai Yin Xue arrives in New Zealand and is charged with Anan Liu's murder
