A SERIES of strong individual performances highlighted Wairarapa's showing in junior representative tennis fixtures with Wanganui. Matches were played in the under-14, under-12 and under-10 age groups at the Masterton Tennis Centre and while Wanganui had the better overall results some of the Wairarapa players more than held their own. In theunder-14 section the doubles combination of Zoe Schofield and Kristy Renall were to the fore while in the under-12s division Toby Tuoro won his singles 6-2, 7-6 and Emma Phelps likewise 6-2, 6-0. These was a solid doubles win in that grade too from Dushka Warren and Jessica Perry who won 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. The feature of the under-10s match for Wairarapa was the win in the singles by Rebecca Perry, who beat her opponent 6-4, 6-2. The Wairarapa teams were.-Under-14s:Kirk Collins, Jarred Holt, Jamie Osborne, William Annear, Zoe Schofield ,Kristy Renall, Charlotte Mossman and Jessica Atmore. Under-12s: Angus Petrie, Toby Tuoro, Angus Preston, Fraser Dymond, Brooke Candy, Dushka Warren, Emma Phelps and Jessica Perry. Under-10s: Bradley Annear, Edward Phelps, Brooke Osborne and Rebecca Perry. Earlier the Wairarapa junior teams were involved in a quadrangular tournament with Hutt Valley, Hawke's Bay and Kapi-Mana. The under-14s which had their games rained out on Sunday lost to Hutt 12-0 and Kapi Mana 11-1. Team members were Kirk Collins., Sean Hourigan, Jarred Holt, William Annear, Zoe Schofield, Kristy Renall and Zoe Paris. The under-12s beat Kapi Mana 10-2 but lost to Hawke's Bay and Hutt Valley although Emma Phelps and Brooke Candy gave their Bay opponents plenty to think about in their doubles.Other Wairarapa team members were Angus Petrie, Mitchell Blackwood, Angus Preston, Angus Williams, Dushka Warren and Jessica Perry. The win of Rebecca Perry in her singles against Kapi Mana was the highlight of the under-10 team's effort, an excellent result considering it was her first representative appearance. She was part of a team including Bradley Annear,Edward Phelps and Brooke Osborne.
