Tai Ping repairs to begin

A specialist dive team will carry out temporary repairs to the bulk carrier Tai Ping at Bluff, but it could be at least nine days before it is seaworthy again.

The Tai Ping was refloated in Bluff Harbour on Thursday, nine days after running aground in thick fog.

The major breach is a 10m hole near the midpoint of the hull.

Steel is being ordered by dive engineers, who will do the underwater welding.
