A 41-year-old Kaitaia man facing multiple changes of indecently assaulting a young girl has been granted renewed name suppression.
The man appeared before Judge Russell Callander in the Kaitaia District Court today on 10 charges if indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 12 and one apiece of inducing and attempting to induce a girl under 12 to perform an indecent act upon him.
All charges relate to one complainant and involve offending alleged to have occurred between 2000 and 2002.
The accused was visibly trembling as he stood in the dock. His lawyer, Catherine Cull, said her client was receiving medical treatment.
The hearing was to have heard bail and continued suppression applications. But Ms Cull requested a further remand to allow arguments to be prepared.
