A 41-year-old Kaitaia man facing multiple changes of indecently assaulting a young girl has been granted renewed name suppression.
The man appeared before Judge Russell Callander in the Kaitaia District Court today on 10 charges if indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 12 and one apiece of inducing and attempting to induce a girl under 12 to perform an indecent act upon him.
All charges relate to one complainant and involve offending alleged to have occurred between 2000 and 2002.
The accused was visibly trembling as he stood in the dock. His lawyer, Catherine Cull, said her client was receiving medical treatment.

The hearing was to have heard bail and continued suppression applications. But Ms Cull requested a further remand to allow arguments to be prepared.
The accused was further remanded in custody without plea to appear again on Thursday, when an application for in-court filming is also expected to be heard.
Meanwhile suppression was lifted when 27-year-old Kaingaroa man George Hayward Murray Cherrington appeared, on five counts of raping a girl aged 12-16, three of raping a girl aged over 16, one of attempted sexual connection with a girl aged 12-16, one (representative) of sexual connection with a girl aged 12-16, eight of sexual grooming, one of assaulting a female, 25 of selling cannabis, 15 of offering to sell cannabis, one (representative) of supplying cannabis to a person under the age of 18 and one of offering to supply the drug to a person under 18.
Cherrington, described on charge sheets as a painter, was remanded in custody without plea to February 22 without seeking bail or continued name suppression.
An application to film in the court was opposed by counsel Ms Cull and one victim, and was declined.
