The Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Supporters' Club is in jeopardy.
A desperate shortage of office bearers has led to a public meeting being called for next Monday at the Memorial Park clubrooms in Masterton, starting at 6.30pm, and secretary-treasurer Fergus Rutherford warns that the club will go into recess if the currentsituation remains.
"We don't really have any other option - you can't run a club when you only have one or two people doing all the work," Rutherford said.
"Right now, we don't even have a committee and, unless new blood comes along on Monday and is prepared to help out, we are gone, it's as simple as that."
Rutherford admitted it would be a sad day if the supporters' club - which is in a sound financial state - no longer operated, as it had played a huge part in the growth of Wairarapa-Bush rugby since being established in the early 1980s, with membership sometimes reaching the three-figure mark.
"It's provided a wonderful outlet for keen rugby folk to band together and support all of our rep teams, and the players have really appreciated having that support behind them," Rutherford said.
"But in recent times we've found it more and more difficult to find people willing to keep things ticking over, and it's reached the stage where we've basically got no one left."
