A youth in the troubled Palmerston North suburb of Highbury got a shock when six police officers with guns and a police dog appeared at his home.
They had been called by a neighbour, who had spotted someone with what appeared to be a rifle, and arrived to find the youth with a slug gun, firing pieces of rolled-up tin foil into a fence.
The boy, who is unlikely to be prosecuted, will be dealt with by the police Youth Aid section.
