The Joneses are missing, so are the Jensens, and the Kennedys are nowhere to be seen. All the Js and Ks are missing from some of Telecom's new Auckland telephone books.
The latest edition of the White Pages began to be delivered last Friday, but nearly 100 pages are
missing in some copies. Telecom Directories says fewer than 50 directories are affected.
Nanette Boyd-Dunlop, of Whitford, received her copies on Friday. Yesterday, she went to look up a name, only to find pages 641 to 736 missing, which accounted for all the Js and Ks.
Mrs Boyd-Dunlop had been sent four copies, as she runs a business from home, and found one other contained the same mistake.
Her father-in-law, who lives next door, found that one of his two copies was also missing the same pages.
"You trust a phone book, trust it to be right," she said. "I was quite blown away."
Telecom Directories communications manager Jo Fuller said the company was aware that a number of this year's Auckland telephone books had been affected by a binding problem.
"It is an isolated issue affecting a handful of directories out of a total of more than 700,000," she said.
"At this stage we believe less than 50 directories will be affected."
Telecom will replace any faulty directories, and customers who have received one with missing pages should call 0800 656 535.
The Auckland telephone book and the Yellow Pages will continue to be delivered until the end of next week.
