KEY POINTS:
A second youth yesterday admitted being part of a group of boy racers who intimidated people at a Banks Peninsula beauty spot.
Marvelle Francis Jackson was remanded in custody for sentencing after changing his plea to guilty on charges arising from a confrontation between the boy racers and golfers and picnickers at Charteris Bay on November 14 last year.
The Christchurch District Court was told that the group - one wearing a wolf mask - drove a car close to people at a golf club.
They narrowly missed several of them, including children.
People nearby defended themselves with golf clubs as the car was driven towards one person who was taking pictures of the incident with a cellphone camera.
The group then got out of the car armed with a hammer, a bat and a wheel brace and threatened to kill the people.
Jackson admitted charges of intimidation, damaging a car and possession of an offensive weapon.
Judge Jane Farish refused to grant him bail because of the number of charges and because the latest offences had been committed while Jackson was on a suspended sentence.
She called for a probation report with an appendix to consider Jackson's suitability for home or community detention, and remanded him until March 10.
Another youth involved in the Charteris Bay confrontation, Daniel Joseph Avery, 19, has already pleaded guilty to the charges and is due to be sentenced on Monday.
Two other youths have pleaded not guilty and are due for a two-day defended hearing before a judge beginning on March 19.
