Channel 9 is back on air, following a move by Allied Press to keep the Dunedin regional television station running while options for its future are considered.
Managing director Julian Smith said Allied Press owned the station's frequency and equipment and had leased them to former owner West 175. That lease had been terminated and Allied Press was again in control.
Broadcasting resumed yesterday with the Bloomberg financial service and would continue until Channel 9's future could be properly evaluated, he said.
The station will run 24 hours a day, with about six hours of local programming initially.
