Refugee's sentence cut by four years

An Iranian refugee who preyed on young Asian women tourists for money and sex after drugging them with valium-laced fruit juice has had four years cut from his 17-year jail term.

The Court of Appeal in Wellington said some sentence reduction was needed given the dismissal of charges involving one woman, and the sentence overall was "too severe" given that some of the offending was at the lower end of the scale.
