During a recent trip to the CBD, I was unable to park in a disabled park (I am wheelchair bound) due to able-bodied people parking there. Eventually I found a park and discovered that of eight handicapped parks, five were with cars not displaying the disabled cards. It is hard enough being disabled without selfish people using these parking spots.

A big thumbs up to the organisers of Pasifika, what a wonderful spectacle it was. We loved every minute of it. Also a big thank you to the bus service from Unitec to Pasifika, it was made so easy. Cheers for a great day.
To the lady driving an old, white vehicle along the Pakuranga highway and into Gossamer Drive around 2pm Monday afternoon, who was blithely throwing sandwich crusts out the window onto both roads on at least four occasions - I hope the rest of the sandwiches were tasty!
The age of chivalry wasn't dead on Mt Eden Rd last Friday morning. First up, two young men in the left turning lane at the Balmoral Rd intersection pointed out our rear left tyre was extremely flat! We, women of an indeterminate age, enjoying a rare catch up, hadn't noticed, so we were very grateful. As we stood by our now parked car with the boot open and a very perplexed look on our respective faces, a car did a u-turn and the driver offered to help. Lui, who admitted that he had never changed a tyre in his life, was our saviour. Thank you once again Lui.

Why do waiters in some cafes and restaurants stand over you with a pepper mill at the same time the food is delivered? Surely it is not unreasonable for diners to taste before adding additional seasoning. Most chefs and cooks would be offended if diners did this without sampling first.

I sing the praises and salute the compassion of the management at Avondale Dollar Dealers who, upon learning that my intellectually disabled son was not, as it appeared, really operating under his own free will, but rather was being conned out of some of his electronic gear by two unscrupulous young men, were happy to reverse the transaction which saw my son's money disappear as the two drove off. Hallelujah!
