What has happened to customer etiquette? I am sick of being greeted as bro or cuz. I'm sorry but I don't recognise you from my last family gathering. Mate is only fractionally better but certainly shouldn't be an initial greeting. I don't expect to be greeted as sir, a simple "good morning" or "good afternoon" would be perfectly acceptable for all ages.

Advertise with NZME.I love the beautiful photographs of New Zealand featured on the TV One weather during the 6pm news. But please can we have a second or two of the complete photo before it is obscured by weather information.

Why do TV announcers call newsworthy persons by their surnames only such as "Key" "Cunliffe" etc? If we hope to restore some respect to the world surely we can expect that people are named with a bit of dignity? How much more time does it take to say John Key or the Prime Minister?

A few weeks ago I accidentally parked my car in a disabled parking space and ended up with a big ($150) fine. It was an honest mistake. I emailed the Hamilton City Council to explain myself and asked for leniency. After 10 days I received a letter to say they had waived my infringement.

I used to like the word "robust" but in the last five years politicians have done it to death by calling every second policy or decision "robust". The word is a dull shadow of its former self: whenever I read it now I am beset by images of Steven Joyce speaking about infrastructure. Give it a rest!

Yesterday myself (aged 29) and our student (aged 16) went into Countdown Milford to get groceries. When we got to paying, the card was declined, so I had a few items taken off and it still didn't work. Much to my surprise a complete stranger came up to me and paid the full bill. That would never happen where I'm from.
