Hunter, 5, was born at 27 weeks, weighing 2.1 pounds in 2019.
“Hunter ended up with a whole range of medical conditions due to medical complications,” according to a Givealittle page set up by his father Cory Tyler, who lives in Tauranga.
“Brain bleeds, spastic hemiplegiacerebral palsy, craniosynostosis and a VP shunt to name a few.”
The Givealttle page has been created to help him attend the Centre of Movement, an intensive therapy session on the Gold Coast, Australia.
The funds will go towards the $A8200 ($9080) programme, flights, accommodation and transport.
“Hunter currently has a physiotherapy programme, but his muscles are growing and getting worse,” says his father.
An intensive three-week programme where he would undergo therapy for three hours a day, five days a week, was identified as a suitable solution for Hunter, the Givealittle page said.
“Unfortunately, New Zealand does not currently offer an intensive therapy programme such as this, and we believe this would be hugely beneficial for Hunter and his goals to live as much of a normal life as he can.
