Radio ad ruled tasteless

The Advertising Standards Complaints Board has sided with a radio listener who claimed a Hallensteins clothes advertisement on radio was tasteless.

The ad for hooded sweatshirts aired on Wellington station More FM and involved dialogue between two youngsters about garb in which to bury a fire victim whose clothes had been destroyed by flames.

"All his clothes were burned up in the fire, and I was looking for something decent for him to be buried in you know, and suits cost a fortune. But I got it all sorted."

Voice-over: "Get a wicked twenty bucks off Hallensteins hoodies and training-pants, now only $29.95 each."
