It was a dream come true for Masterton woman, Kathy Morris this week.
Whoever stole her birdbath and concrete birds have had their conscience pricked, and on two separate occasions have returned the stolen goods.
"I couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled open the curtains and there it was, sitting on
the front lawn. We are over the moon."
Mrs Morris had made a heartfelt plea via the Times-Age for any information on where her birdbath had gone describing it as " a precious gift from our children."
That was two weeks ago. A week after the theft, grandson, Regan (8) went out to the letterbox to check for mail and he came back with one of the missing birds.
"Grandma, they're starting to bring it back" he said.
Then, yesterday morning the birdbath reappeared. There's still one bird missing but it hasn't dampened the Morris' joy of getting their gift back. It has been given to Mrs Morris and husband, Stan for their 25th wedding anniversary 12 years ago. It was a prized possession and it moved with them from their Clareville garden to Masterton.
