A crash between a police patrol car and another vehicle is being investigated after the officer involved failed to stop following the incident.
Kapiti-Mana area commander Detective Inspector Paul Basham said the officer had been called to a "violent domestic incident" on Thursday afternoon when the collision occurred on Mungavin Ave in Porirua.
Nobody was injured and damage to the other vehicle was relatively minor, Mr Basham said.
A senior sergeant was overseeing the internal police investigation.
"We've spoken to the other party. We can't make any further comment pending the outcome of the investigation."
