Police have named a 34-year-old man wanted for one of three armed robberies in Auckland last Sunday.
John Koteka, who has also been going by the name Paul Wilson, is a suspect in one of three robberies at the Auckland Domain and Mt Eden between 4pm and 5pm last Sunday.
Police allege an armed robber first stole from a person leading a tour group at the Domain's Wintergarden Pavilion before he drove to Mt Eden where he accosted a person at the base.
He then confronted a group of Asian visitors at the summit, stealing a handbag before firing the shots when one of the group chased him.
Police have a warrant to arrest Koteka in relation to the second of the three offences.
He is described as a Pacific Islander of solid build with Auckland connections in the city and Papatoetoe, despite living a transient lifestyle.
Police believe he may be in the company of 31-year-old Alex Tereora, who is also wanted after failing to appear in the Auckland High Court on February 18 on charges including using a firearm and assault with intent to rob.
Neither man should be approached by members of the public as they are both considered to be armed and dangerous, said detective inspector Scott Beard.
"It's nearly a week since the brazen and frightening offences occurred in the Domain and on Mt Eden and we're very keen to locate these men in order to prevent repeat offences," he said.
Anyone with information is urged to call 111 immediately or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
