Two men with a fondness for unusual vehicles made work for police over the weekend when one stole a road marking truck and the other tried to get into a police car.
Senior Sergeant Warwick Burr, of Masterton police, said a man left a Masterton bar on Saturday at 2.20am, walked to an unattended police car and tried its doors.
Police watching the car arrested him.
A Masterton man, 21, was charged with unlawfully interfering with a motor vehicle and possession of cannabis.
Another man stole an unattended road marking truck at 5am on Sunday.
Mr Burr said a patrol car later found the truck doing skids at Percy's Reserve.
The driver stopped the truck and fled on foot. Mr Burr said police are making follow up inquiries.
