CHRISTCHURCH - The sentencing of a former national Cub leader who admitted poisoning three teenage boys with a sex-related drug has been delayed so the judge can consider evidence.
Alexander Ian Clark was to have been sentenced in Christchurch District Court yesterday for three convictions of poisoning and one of indecent assault.
However, Judge Colin Doherty decided to delay the sentencing after the Crown called evidence.
Police interviewed several teenage boys after one was found dead in a car at Clark's Christchurch house two years ago.
They found that Clark, aged 48, had been plying them with beer and the drug isobutyl nitrite, and providing gay blue movies.
Questioned by Crown prosecutor Jane Farish, one witness, whose name is suppressed, said he was 15 when he first met Clark in a public library.
At a drinking session at Clark's place, Clark introduced him to the drug.
The witness said he refused several times to use it, but Clark held his head and put it under his nose while he was trying to get away.
Questioned by Mr Fournier, the witness said he agreed Clark had helped him at times, including composing a CV for a job application.
