Pirinoa further enhanced their chances of becoming Wairarapa regional one tennis champions this season by beating Martinborough 6-3 in the clash of the titans at Martinborough last weekend
It was a result which make them hot favourites to continue on their winning way when they play Carterton at Carterton tomorrow.

Martinborough went into their clash with unbeaten records and it was Pirnoa who grabbed the ascendancy in the singles, coming out of that section with a crucial 4-2.advantage
Geoff Janse gave Pirinoa a flying start by edging out Marco de Groot 7-6, 7-6 and other singles wins came from like Atkinson, Mike Jackson and Sissy Pickering.
Atkinson beat Andy Darling 6-3, 6-2, Jackson, accounted for Dan Nicholson 6-3, 6-1 and Pickering battled her way to a three set victory over Carla Didsbury, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
The two successes for Martinborough in the singles came through Steve Chapman beating Scotty McDonald 6-3, 6-3 and Jan Lankow beating Tracey Donald 6-2, 6-2.
The top men's doubles was a thriller with the Martinborough pairing of de Groot and Chapman outlasting Janse and Atkinson 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
But that win for the southerners was more than countered by McDonald and Jackson beating darling and Nicholson 6-4, 7-6 and, in the women's doubles, Donald and Pickering beating Lankow and Disbury 7-6, 6-4.
It is difficult to imagine Carterton troubling Pirinoa tomorrow with the latter expected to dominate the action in the singles and the doubles.
Martinborough , for their part, will be wanting to bounce back quickly from their defeat and they should do so when they play Gladstone at Martinborough. The southerners will need to be wary though as Gladstone are going into the game on the back of wins over Carterton and Masterton and will be in a confident frame of mind.
The third regional one match tomorrow sees Masterton at home to Opaki and while the form book suggests Opaki should be too strong but a Masterton team at full strength would make matters interesting.
Of particular interest here will be the top men's singles match between Opaki's Russell Broughton and Masterton's Geoff McKay, both of whom have yet to taste defeat in singles play this season.
Sunday brings the Wairarapa senior closed tournament at the Masterton Tennis Centre but with entries being taken on the day it is difficult to predict winners there.
Word is, however, that Jono Hurley, who plays his interclub in Wellington, will be amongst the starters in the men's singles and if that's the case he will obviously be the one to beat.
