Rescuers have braved high winds and driving rain to fly a hypothermic pig hunter out of Lake Rotomahana in the Bay of Plenty.
The 42-year-old Rerewhakaaitu man was reported missing after he was separated from his hunting party in heavy rain on Sunday afternoon.
Police searchers found him in an area above a series of precipitous bluffs at about 10:15am this morning.
He had to be evacuated by helicopter because of his worsening condition and the inclosing weather.
"This was particularly challenging as the weather conditions were dreadful, with winds and driving rain, and the location of the hunter on the mountain was just below the cloud base," police said.
