A person was rushed to Auckland Hospital early this morning from Auckland’s Shipwrecked Festival in a serious condition.
At 4.30am, the Northland Rescue Helicopter attended to a patient suffering a serious medical event and transported them to Auckland Hospital, a spokesman said.
The three-day music and arts festivalfeatures five stages, party zones, workshops, and chillout areas at Te Ārai, a small coastal community about 90 minutes north of Auckland.
The festival management said in a statement: “We can confirm one person has been taken to hospital this morning via helicopter. They are currently being treated at the hospital and we are in touch with the family.
“At this stage, we cannot give you any more information. On behalf of the family we would like to ask for privacy in this matter.”

A police spokesperson told the Herald that no Police action was required, and Hato Hone St John attended the incident at the Shipwrecked Festival on Sunday morning at Te Ārai, north of Auckland.
A nearby resident who only wanted to be known by her first name Susie, said she was woken by the sound of a helicopter just before 5am, and reported seeing an ambulance and fire engines about the same time.
