One person has been killed and six injured after a bus accident on State Highway 1 just north of Palmerston in the South Island, police said this afternoon.
It appeared the bus left the road about 12.22pm near Shag Point, 10km north of Palmerston, a police spokesman said.Palmerston is 57km north-east of Dunedin.
Further details about the accident are not yet available, but SH1 has been closed in the immediate area, with diversions in place.
