One dead in collision between car and truck near Te Aroha

One person is dead after a collision between a car and a truck south of Te Aroha and Morrinsville in Waikato today.

Te Aroha police said this afternoon it was too soon for them to release the identity of the dead person because next-of-kin were being contacted.

The accident happened on Diagonal Road, which is a country road halfway between Morrinsville, Te Aroha and Matamata.

Police said the dead person, a male, was alone in the car.

The truck driver was not hurt in the accident, which happened at 11am.
