A renowned Masterton brand name _ Hansells _ has been taken up by the blossoming food export company that now owns the business.
Old Fashioned Foods is changing its name to Hansells Food Group.
Chief executive Ross MacKenzie said the rebranding capped off Hansells' 75th anniversary last year and was prompted by the company's greater expansion into offshore markets.
The move was also coupled with the growing strength of the Hansells brand, he said.
''We have been enjoying unprecedented growth across all of our brands and are set to make further inroads into the US and Canada.
''Unfortunately, the Old Fashioned Foods brand cannot be used in those regions. The shift to Hansells Food Group is a good solution,'' Mr MacKenzie said.''
''For a company that began as a supplier of individually packaged steamed puddings and desserts, Hansells Food Group has gone from strength to strength.'' Mr MacKenzie said the company today produced just over 25 million puddings each year and earned over 50 per cent of its $120 million revenue in overseas markets.
Old Fashioned Foods acquired the Hansells business in 2006 and broadened the company's product range. ''We're expecting to see some really exciting opportunities for growth emerging this year and beyond,'' Mr MacKenzie said.
