The Nurses Organisation has launched a national petition aimed at boosting pay rates for nurses and midwives.
The organisation said signatures would be collected from International Women's Day, today, until International Nurses Day on Friday.
The petition would call on the Government to ensure district health boards were adequately funded to pay nurses and midwives adequately Laila Harre, Nurses Organisation organising services manager, said in a statement.
"It's fitting that nurses and midwives... ask the New Zealand public to back them in their fight to be paid fairly compared to other professions requiring similar skills, experience, responsibility and qualifications," she said.
