Hastings lawyer David Porteous is to appear in court next month on charges of altering and using a document.
The charges relate to the payment of a cheque to a man that allegedly should have gone to the man's brother.
The brother who allegedly should have received the cheque complained to the Law Society, and it is alleged that during the investigation Porteous altered a photocopy of the cheque.
Porteous denies committing any offence.
