Annemarie Treadwell's GP says the subject of committing suicide never came up in the six years she was a patient.
The death of Treadwell, 77, in 2016, is central to the trial of Lower Hutt woman Susan Austen in the High Court at Wellington, who is accused of assisting Treadwell to take her own life.
Austen, 67, is also facing two other counts of importing Class C controlled drug pentobarbital on two occasions between 2012 and 2016.
Pentobarbital is used by vets to euthanise animals and can cause a coma and death if used by humans.
Treadwell's GP, Lorna McCall, told the court on Tuesday she saw Treadwell frequently from 2010, regularly prescribing anti-depressants and other medications for "aches, pains and fatigue", including chronic pain in her hip.
